Rules
Eligibility:
- The competition is open only to anglers who are currently residing in New Zealand.
- Each ticket is valid for one individual competitor only. Group entries or team fishing is not permitted.
Fishing Method:
- This is a land-based fishing competition only. Fishing from boats, kayaks, jet skis, or any other watercraft is strictly prohibited.
- Only lures are permitted. Bait, live bait, and other fishing methods are not allowed.
Payment:
- Payment of the entry fee must be made in full before the start of the competition.
- Payments should be made to the designated bank account provided during registration.
- Please include your full name and contact details with your payment.
Competition Dates:
- The competition will run for one weeks, from Monday, November 11th to Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Catch and Release:
- Catch and release is strongly encouraged to promote sustainable fishing practices and preserve the Kingfish population.
- However, competitors are allowed to keep their catch, provided it adheres to all New Zealand fishery regulations regarding size limits, bag limits, and seasonal restrictions.
- Please familiarize yourself with the current fishing regulations for Kingfish in your area before participating in the competition.
Safety:
- Your safety is your responsibility.
- We strongly recommend wearing appropriate safety gear at all times while fishing, including a life jacket, helmet, and sturdy footwear.
- Consider carrying a rope and flares for emergencies, especially when fishing in remote or challenging locations.
- Be aware of your surroundings, including tides, currents, and weather conditions.
- The competition organizers are not responsible for checking or enforcing the use of safety equipment.
Measurement:
- The length of each Kingfish will be measured from the tip of the nose to the "V" of the tail.
- A verified fish measuring device must be used.
- Please ensure the fish is lying flat and straight on the measuring device for accurate measurement.

- Important: By submitting your photo, you grant the competition organizers ownership of the image and the right to use it for promotional purposes.
Photo Requirements:
- The photo must be clear and in focus.
- The entire fish must be visible in the photo, lying flat on the measuring device.
- The lure used to catch the fish must also be clearly visible in the photo.
- The measurement on the measuring device must be clearly readable.
- The photo must be taken on a flat surface in an outdoor environment. Photos taken inside a house, on a boat, kayak, jet ski deck, or any other non-land-based location will be disqualified.
Prize Claiming:
- Winners will be required to submit the original, unedited photo file to the organizers before claiming their prize. This is to verify the metadata (date and time) and ensure the photo's authenticity.
