DIY: How to Fix Broken Soft Bait and Save Money

Introduction

We've all been there. That heart-sinking moment when your favourite soft bait gets smashed to bits by a hungry snapper. Most of the time, we end up chucking the mangled remains in the bin (or worse, back in the ocean – tut tut!). But what if I told you there's a better way? With a few simple tricks, you can bring those broken soft baits back to life and save yourself some serious coin.

Method 1: The Super Glue Solution

This method is perfect for those clean breaks where your soft bait has been split into two pieces. Here's what you'll need:

Tools:

  • Super glue
  • Bait cotton

Instructions:

  1. Place the broken soft bait pieces next to each other, ensuring they align correctly.
  2. Wrap the body and tail together tightly with whipping knot. This will help hold the pieces in place and provide a stronger bond.
  3. Once you're happy with the knot, brush a generous amount of super glue over the top. This will reinforce the knot and create a durable seal.

Method 2: The Valleyhill Bone Joint Connector

This handy little tool was originally designed for converting stick baits into swim baits, but it's also a lifesaver for repairing those tail-less wonders. Here's how it works:

Tools:

  • Valleyhill Bone Joint Soft Bait Connector
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. If your soft bait has been completely decapitated, you might need to trim one end to create a new tail shape. Use your scissors to carefully shape the end of the body.
  2. Connect the two parts of the soft bait using the Valleyhill Bone Joint Connector. Follow the instructions provided with the connector to ensure a secure fit.

Happy Softbaiting!
